Social Care CIPFAstats+ Datasets

Rising demand for social care has placed profound strain on local authorities. Covering all aspects of adult and children's social care, these social care datasets can establish a baseline for service delivery, identify where efficiency gains can be achieved and plan future service provision.

Children's Social Care

Children Looked After (CLA) Dashboard

The data included in this Power BI dashboard is taken from CIPFA's annual Children Looked After (CLA) questionnaire completed by participating local authorities. It analyses the costs of your authority's looked-after children, split by residential/foster and internal/external provision. The Children Looked After (CLA) Dashboard provides a cost per looked-after child per week for different placement types. You will receive more accurate cost and performance analysis, and be able to keep track of statistical neighbour comparisons.

How will it help?

This tool allows you to make sure that resources are going to the right place so you can be assured that every pound is spent helping those in the greatest need.

Special Educational Needs (SEN) Dashboard

The data included in this upcoming Power BI dashboard is taken from CIPFA's annual Special Educational Needs (SEN) questionnaire completed by participating local authorities. It will provide a range of interactive tools, allowing authorities to make comparisons of SEN funding for children and young people who need extra support at school or college, or for those in alternative provisions. High-cost placements are compared along with demographic comparisons for all SEN pupils. The analysis will consist of three key sections: demographic analysis by type of need, cost per pupil per week for children in independent schools, and SEN transport. This dashboard can help inform your strategic review of provision for children and young people with SEN. You will be able to compare their data and performance with their nearest statistical neighbours.

How will it help?

A highly visual and interactive comparative tool to help make the best educational expenditure choices for the vulnerable children with special needs.

Adult Social Care

ASC-FR Profile Dashboard

The upcoming ASC-FR dashboard will deliver comprehensive adult social care analysis with financial and population data from the ASC-FR dataset, as provided by NHS Digital. The interactive report will allow users to explore and manipulate the data. Data will be available for all local authorities in England, and you will be able to select specific comparison groups.

How will it help?

As noted from recent reports, this is an often underreported service that requires careful management and funding. The ASC-FR Profile Dashboard gives you the tools needed to help you along.

Residential and Nursing Care Dashboard

This new Power BI dashboard consists of data collected from CIPFA's annual Residential and Nursing Care questionnaire completed by participating authorities, in combination with figures from the ASC-FR dataset, as provided by NHS Digital. It focusses on the costs and services provided to clients in residential and nursing care, allowing costs to be examined by client type, age and type of care. It follows the approaches developed in recent years, providing detailed analysis of the ASC-FR external provision data for all client groups of physical support, sensory support, support with memory and cognition, learning disability support and mental health support. The Residential and Nursing Care Dashboard provides a powerful insight into how your authority compares against your peers within the client group classification.

How will it help?

There is a pressing need to help this sector keep a stable baseline to ensure the service is of a high quality to those in local residential care.

Social Care: England/Scotland/Wales Dashboard

This upcoming Power BI dashboard will provide a detailed analysis of adult social care expenditure analysed by support groups, such as: physical support, sensory support, support with memory and cognition, learning disability support and mental health support. Other information includes a breakdown of the total population by age group and number of resident weeks.

How will it help?

A subset of adult social care that requires a more granular understanding. This dataset provides detailed analysis to help you make the best decisions protecting this vulnerable part of the population.
