The recent series of governance workshops have focused on new developments and good practice in local authority governance.
The sessions covered the recent report on ethical standards in local authorities from the Committee on Standards in Public Life and good practice in the use of local codes of governance and annual governance statements.
The National Audit Office published a report on Local Authority Governance in January 2019 and members of the study team spoke at the workshops to share key findings and additional analysis of key governance checks and balances.
Speakers from Grant Thornton also attended to explain the external auditor's perspective on governance, in particular relating to the conclusion on value for money.
Presentations from the workshop and the programme are available to download for subscribers to the Better Governance Forum.
