On 9 April CIPFA launched the new edition of the CIPFA Statement on the Role of the Head of Internal Audit at a special event in London.
CIPFA Chief Executive Rob Whiteman introduced the new statement and highlighted the value that heads of internal audit provide to their organisations. Carolyn Williamson, Vice-President of CIPFA and also Deputy Chief Executive of Hampshire County Council, spoke of the importance of supporting the head of internal audit and ensuring there is effective engagement with the audit committee.
A panel of heads of internal audit then discussed some of the challenges they and their fellow heads of internal audit currently face and shared how they are meeting those challenges.
To accompany the new statement a publication, Leading Internal Audit, has been published featuring case studies from heads of internal audit in the public services across the UK.
