Director of Finance

Lancashire County Council, permanent

Job description

Salary: Up to £117,998 (plus up to £30,000 Market Supplement and relocation package)

Closing date: Sunday 19 October 2025

Lancashire is an exceptional county. Home to 1.2 million residents and 55.000 businesses with a net revenue budget of £1.24bn, it spans a broad geographical area with a diverse range of both urban and rural communities. It has fantastic natural assets, good quality housing, excellent connectivity and serious economic clout.

We are seeking a passionate, visible leader to drive forward this exciting agenda. You will be naturally collaborative, an effective communicator and committed to delivering to high standards.

As a key member of the council’s corporate management team, with a strategic dotted line to the Chief Executive Officer, this role will provide high-level financial vision, drive organisational transformation and ensure the long-term sustainability of the council. A track record of outstanding financial management and governance is a given, but your desire to collaborate internally and externally, showcasing exceptional leadership, will set you apart as a Director in Lancashire.

This is a hugely exciting time to come to Lancashire, with the new Combined County Authority and Local Government Reorganisation giving candidates a chance to shape the future of the county.
