About the course

The public sector is becoming more commercial in its outlook and practices, driven largely by continuing budget pressures and the need to generate extra revenue. This one-day course focuses on creating and improving overall commercial strategies to make them more effective in achieving organisational commercial goals.

The course will use a commercial planning/review worksheet to help you think through your commercial vision and the strategies and resource allocations necessary to achieve them. It will also cover the need for revised risk, governance and policies to ensure that the entities operating commercially are sufficiently agile to be successful. It does not cover commercial procurement or outsourcing.

Who is it for?

The course is aimed at management teams or individuals responsible for planning or running services on a commercial basis in the public sector. This could include shared services providing services to public sector bodies, commercial provision of services to other public or private sector bodies or direct to the public.
