London-based staff at the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) this week have relocated to ICAEW’s Moorgate headquarters, further strengthening both Institutes’ commitment to ever-closer working.
In 2023, CIPFA and ICAEW pledged in a joint declaration to deepen their strategic alignment across a number of areas, with the aim of delivering better outcomes for their members and students and the global accountancy profession as a whole.
As part of this partnership, CIPFA members and staff already benefit from access to the facilities at the Grade II* listed home of ICAEW, including its business centre, library, and the One Moorgate Place club.
Moving CIPFA’s London-based employees from their current offices in Mansell Street, near Whitechapel, to Chartered Accountants’ Hall in Moorgate will allow for greater collaboration between the two bodies.
CIPFA will maintain a small presence in their Mansell Street offices for training and meetings.
Since the joint declaration was announced last September, both Institutes have successfully launched a new fast-track route for newly qualified CPFA and ACA accountants to gain dual membership and designation. Additionally, ICAEW’s Professional Standards Department has taken over the assessment, investigation and prosecution of all CIPFA complaints, and ICAEW and CIPFA international teams are working together to submit joint bids for donor funded projects to deliver international capacity building expertise.
Rob Whiteman, CIPFA’s CEO said:
“This move is a key step in our closer relationship with ICAEW but at the end of the day, this is about achieving the best outcomes for the public sector and our members. CIPFA will continue to benefit from our training and meeting spaces in Mansell Street, however co-location with ICAEW solidifies the relationship between our two Institutes in London – one which I believe will support ever deeper relationships, and collaboration and innovation across our teams.
“I am thrilled that this is one of my last acts as CEO of CIPFA, to set ourselves up for success in the future under my successor Owen Mapley.”
Alan Vallance, ICAEW CEO, added:
“CIPFA’s move to Chartered Accountants’ Hall is a strong physical symbol of our commitment to closer working, and is another significant milestone in our partnership.
“Having our people in the same building will bring about deeper collaboration on a daily basis, from the informal ad-hoc discussion that occurs when working in the same place to more formal in-person meetings. This will help us achieve better outcomes for members and students, and ultimately benefit both the profession and the wider public sector economy.”
