CIPFA transforms public sector data service to aid decision making

21-09-2020

A new data service announced today by the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) will help public finance professionals make smarter decisions.

Hosted on a cloud-based platform, CIPFAstats+ will represent a wide-ranging variety of financial and non-financial data on local authority frontline services.

CIPFAstats+ allows users to manipulate, interrogate and analyse existing CIPFAstats data sets in entirely new ways, online. CIPFAstats+ is a subscription-based service with access to CIPFA’s largest existing data sets, Local Government General Finance and Police.

Additional data sets, such as Environmental & Regulatory, Social Care, Demographics & Economy and Housing Assets & Estates Management will be migrated to the new cloud platform in 2020 and 2021.

Rob Whiteman, CIPFA CEO, said:

“In today’s volatile political and economic climate, gaining an accurate view of local issues can be incredibly difficult.

“We know that robust evidence is integral to good decision making in the public sector, and the new CIPFAstats+ is designed to give public finance professionals the visibility to better understand, and act for, their communities.

“CIPFA has been a long-time collector and provider of data. This new product suite will respond to the changing data needs of the public sector.”
