Strengthening Global Ties: CIPFA International’s Impact in North Macedonia and Albania

Khalid Hamid, CIPFA International Director

The CIPFA International team concluded 2024 on a high note with impactful visits to audit offices in North Macedonia and Albania. As the team prepares for an exciting and event-filled 2025, here are some key highlights from the visits, as shared by our International Director, Khalid Hamid.

North Macedonia: Celebrating 25 years of the State Audit Office

The team attended the 25th Anniversary of the State Audit Office, an event that brought together representatives from around 15 audit offices, donors, and influential stakeholders across the region. CIPFA’s presence reinforced our brand reputation in the region, with meaningful discussions on future potential projects. The State Audit Office is one of our key partners, and the visit served to further strengthen this valued relationship. In addition to the conference, we held several one-on-one meetings with key organisations before and after the event, ensuring our continued engagement and collaboration on opportunities for support and impact in the region.

Albania: Celebrating TIAPS Diploma Achievements and Advancing Internal Auditing Practices

The CIPFA International team proudly marked the successful completion of the Diploma-level Training of Internal Auditors in the Public Sector (TIAPS) in partnership with the Central Harmonization Unit of Albania. Sixteen students celebrated their hard-earned achievement, receiving certificates for their dedication and commitment to advancing public sector auditing standards. This milestone event was followed by a dynamic workshop aimed at strengthening audit frameworks and practices in Albania. The workshop featured engaging discussions on emerging trends in performance auditing and an exploration of the Global Internal Audit Standards (GIAS) in targeted audit practices. This training initiative was supported by a collaborative effort from the Centre of Excellence in Finance (CEF), the Ministry of Finance and Economy Albania, the Republic of Finance Slovenia, OECD-SIGMA and the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs Slovenia.
