The Howard Partnership Trust (THPT) is a multi-academy trust (MAT) responsible for a group of academies in Surrey. It currently comprises six primary, four secondary and three special schools (for children with special educational needs) and supports 7,500 children, with a turnover of approximately £60m.

THPT is looking to appoint a new trustee to its board and, in due course, to chair the audit committee.
The role would suit CIPFA members based in or near Surrey with a desire to make a contribution to a crucial public service and who are interested in gaining non-executive experience.

Trustees
Trustees are fully responsible for the MAT, its vision and strategy, and the high standard of educational provision across all schools. They are ultimately responsible for finance, assets, admissions and staffing.
We are seeking to recruit a trustee to ensure our full complement of ten member-appointed trustees. These are skills-based appointments. The board meets at least six times per year and operates through committees (with delegated powers) and working groups.

We are particularly looking for new trustees with:
Experience in one or more of the following:
- public office, ie non-executive/trustee
- public sector or charity organisations
- corporate governance
- the education sector
- building and property management.
Skills in one or more of the following:
- compliance
- accountancy, audit and finance.
Core competencies in one or more of the following:
- organisational development
- commercial awareness
- strategic thinking.
Commitment
Most meetings are online. There may be 2–3 meetings per month in term time. Time is also needed for reading and preparation for meetings and occasional training/development activities.
