Welcome to Social care finance in focus — CIPFA’s online case study library of effective practice in local authority social care finance. Strong public financial management is key to ensuring that limited resources achieve the greatest possible impact for people who draw on care and support. With rising levels of need, it is more important than ever to ensure that councils improve outcomes for people and achieve value for money. This resource supports councils in that task.
The case studies are arranged under four themes, which you can follow using the links in the boxes below. Each case study describes a challenge a council has experienced, the actions that the council took to overcome the challenge, the outcomes that the council achieved, and reflection on lessons learned. It is the intention that councils learn from others’ experiences to improve services and financial management in their area.
