Treasury management is a practical activity dealing with the ebb and flow of money through an organisation’s bank accounts. This course gives an overview of UK local authority treasury management for those with little or no specialist experience of this aspect of finance.

About this event
The Introduction to Treasury Management e-learning is intended for those with little or no specialist experience of this area, including councillors, finance staff, and new treasury staff. It is delivered online. Detailed joining instructions will be sent to you.
It will take around four hours to complete and you will have access to the learning materials for three months.
Note: Whilst content does refer to Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland, the course will be most relevant to those working in English local government.
The e-learning covers:
- what treasury management is,
- the main regulatory requirements and governance,
- treasury reports – what they should contain and their link to capital strategy,
- role of prudential indicators and key performance indicators,
- what treasury risks are and how they can be managed.
This e-learning carries four CPD hours.
