CIPFA published The Excellent Finance Business Partner (2015) as the seventh in its series of cornerstone guides setting out good financial management practices applicable across all public sector organisations.
There is no doubting the scale of the financial challenge facing the NHS in the coming years, which underlines the importance of NHS finance professionals adapting to ensure that they add value.
A finance business partnering approach can be good for the finance professional, finance function and wider organisation alike, and so CIPFA wants to make sure the NHS can apply the thinking on business partnering as efficiently as possible.
The CIPFA Health Panel has overseen an edited version which aims to streamline the reading, add practical tools and provide a focus on the issues which matter in the NHS.
As such this publication explains what business partnering is, how it works in practice, what skills it requires and how it should be implemented.
The guide pivots on a set of six checklists so that managers can get straight to the point to make sure they have the right arrangements in place or in train.
This publication is only available as a PDF. Customers and subscribers will need to log in to CIPFA’s website to access the publication.
