About the role

Supporting our Financial Services Manager in providing an efficient and effective accountancy service, you will empower service managers to take control and manage their own finances by providing expert financial support and advice. You will also prepare Council estimates and provide monthly budget monitoring reports to the Strategic Management Team. You will be comfortable liaising with a range of internal and external customers, including senior management, take the lead on the preparation of annual accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness and liaising with external audit, whilst providing support in other areas of accountancy as needed.

About you

Along with a CCAB recognised qualification, you will be competent with IT-based financial systems. You will need to hit the ground running, so it is important that you can use your initiative and have a talent for communicating technical financial information into easy to understand language. With excellent communication skills, you will be confident working with a wide variety of stakeholders as you share information and advice with others. Highly organised with excellent attention to detail, you’re a great team player. You will occasionally need to be able to work out of office hours and attend evening meetings.

About us

Our recent Local Government Association Peer Challenge highlighted that ‘EDDC is a great place to work, with engaged staff and members’ and that’s certainly true! You will be part of a Gold Investors in People (IiP) organisation which works together with local people to create great value services and an outstanding community, economy and environment in which people want to live, work, visit and enjoy now, and for future generations.  And with our wide range of health and wellbeing benefits, our highly flexible and collaborative hybrid Worksmart working arrangements as well as our commitment to continuous learning and development, you can be confident of joining a dedicated community of colleagues who are Happy, Healthy and Here.
