The Greater London Authority (GLA) is looking for an exceptional Director – Financial Services to join its senior leadership team.  This pivotal role offers a unique opportunity to shape London's financial future, contributing directly to the delivery of the Mayor's strategic priorities while ensuring financial resilience and excellence.

The Role

As Director – Financial Services, you will be a critical member of the Resources Directorate and a trusted deputy to the Chief Finance Officer (Section 127 Officer).

Leading a talented and diverse team, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Shaping and implementing the GLA’s financial strategy to deliver the Mayor’s priorities.
  • Overseeing the Mayor’s budget, Assembly budgets, consolidating the GLA group in the Statement of Accounts
  • Managing the implementation of strategic initiatives, such as devolution projects and a new SAP Hana ERP system.
  • Providing expert financial advice to senior stakeholders, including the Mayor’s Office, Assembly Members, and external partners.
  • Leading a culture of innovation, inclusivity, and continuous improvement across the Financial Services team.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Full membership of a professional accountancy body (e.g., CCAB, CIMA, CIPFA).
  • Proven experience in public sector finance at a senior level.
  • Leadership and change management skills.
  • The ability to inspire trust and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to deliver financial transformation and innovation within complex organisations.
