Closing date: Sunday 1 December 2024
This is an exciting time to join our finance team at the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead. Under new leadership, we are looking to build a world-class finance team to support all our services navigate the challenging financial environment in which local authorities operate. With the lowest Council Tax of any unitary authority outside of London we have a record of delivering efficiently. However, we cannot stand still and strengthening the finance team so that is fit to meet future demands is a priority.
As a Systems & Control Accountant, your primary task will be to manage the authority’s financial ledger, ensuring finance and end users are supported, and that the system operates to its full potential. With your systems background and financial expertise, you’ll maintain and develop our Agresso finance system, streamlining and defining processes.
Day to day, you’ll report to the Head of Financial Reporting and work with colleagues to develop Agresso. You’ll understand exactly how the system impacts on the work of the Finance team, other council services and the wider council corporate strategy. That means you can investigate and resolve any support and performance issues whenever they arise. You’ll also be responsible for the integrity of interfaces between the ledger and subsidiary systems such as payroll, adult social care and council tax.
At this level, you need to be an innovative developer with a good grasp of finance. Highly numerate and IT literate, you can use Microsoft packages to an advanced level. We’re also looking for attention to detail, initiative and an organised approach. In other words, you meet deadlines and are driven to give customers a seamless service. That calls for good communication skills, both in person and on paper. If you can also see the big picture as well as the technicalities, this could be the place for your skills.
