HAMP Series 61 - Information means power?

CIPFA Property image: a series of buildings

Event summary

The importance of using data to drive smart decisions is nothing new. Even Sherlock Holmes over a 100 years ago proclaimed, “It is a capital Mistake to theorize before one has data”.

But it’s clear a lot has changed in those years, and use of data in modern world is far more essential. Data has become the backbone of almost everything we do, driving decisions, shaping strategies, and transforming industries. As technology continues to evolve, the role of comprehensive and accurate data will become even more significant.

About this event

We are seeing this picture played out in highways, with data collected in more and more areas, helping us to prioritise expenditure, model future maintenance needs, aid decision making and much, much more.

Our next events will look at two of these emerging data areas.

The first is the new National Underground Asset Register (NUAR) where we have invited ‘Geoplace’ to provide an overview of the platform, the information available and what they are requesting from Local Authorities in terms of sharing buried assets information, e.g. Traffic Signal cables, etc.

Our second focus will be in terms of the Asset Information Requirements (AIR) stemming from Building Information Modelling (BIM). Here we will get a ‘warts and all’ look at how BIM AIRs are utilised and support the extraction of data from CAD design drawings, supporting the prompt importation of new assets into an organisation’s Asset Management System.

If that’s not enough our morning will start with the usual topical Strategic Update which provides a valuable session looking at key messages coming out from government for the public sector and exploring what is happening in a range of key areas affecting highways in local government including the latest on funding, safety, sustainability, traffic management and road condition.

Who should attend?

This course is aimed at Directors, Heads of Service and senior managers involved in the procurement, planning, design and delivery of highway and transportation programmes and initiatives. It will also benefit highways service delivery partners who are interested in developing their capacity of supporting wider highway management activities.

How will you benefit from attending?

The webinar will bring you up to date with the latest highway news and that of the wider public sector. We will examine the new National Underground Asset Register (NUAR) and Asset Information Requirements (AIR) stemming from Building Information Modelling (BIM) to understand how Highways Authorities will be impacted by them.
