IT Audit and Security Seminar 2018

28-06-2018

The 2018 IT audit seminar focused on two main themes: cyber security and information security. The challenges of increasing cyber threats and ensuring compliance with data protection mean that public bodies need to ensure robust arrangements.

CIPFA’s event shared guidance and resources that will help internal auditors provide assurance on these critical areas.

The event included updates on the latest developments in managing cyber risk, including the local government cyber stocktake review.

Mark Brett, director of the National LAWARP, shared key lines of enquiry for assessing cyber and information security risk that internal auditors can use to test the robustness of their organisation’s arrangements.

The seminar also considered the challenges of auditing in a collaborative environment where IT services are shared and there are commercial partners.

This event provided opportunities to share approaches to IT audit planning and examine the issues of audit resourcing and specialist skills.
