The Summer Internal Audit Open Engagement took place on 28 June 2021. This was a free event open to internal auditors in the UK public services and internationally.
The day opened with a welcome and introduction from the current CIPFA President, Professor Andrew Hardy, the Chief Executive of University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust. He considered the impact of the pandemic on the public services and set out the current work and developments in CIPFA to support the public services.
There then followed a round table discussion facilitated by Diana Melville. The theme of the discussion was the future for internal audit in the public services. The speakers presented three different perspectives on the topic: Don Peebles Head of Policy and Technical at CIPFA, Simon Edge Chair of the Internal Audit Standards Advisory Board and Tom Powell Head of Internal Audit at Manchester City Council.
Presentations from days two to four of the Summer Internal Audit Update are also available to BGF subscribers.
