07-09-2015

The Modern Slavery Act 2015 (‘the Act’) received royal assent on 26 March 2015 and comes into force in stages from July 2015. The Act consolidates the current offences of slavery and human trafficking and strengthens the court’s powers to impose longer maximum prison sentences. It also introduces new civil orders and creates a new anti-slavery commissioner.
