Public Procurement: Your First Steps to Climate Action

Tackling climate change is becoming increasingly urgent. Public bodies have a dual role not only in complying with legal obligations to reduce their own carbon emissions, but also in actively encouraging and requiring partners, suppliers and stakeholders to do the same.

To deliver on the promises, there is a lot that procurement teams need to action urgently, including changes to the way both procurement exercises and contracts are prepared and managed. Public bodies do not have the necessary information from current contracts to enact real change, as previous exercises did not ask for vital data to develop long term strategies. This event explored the role of public procurement and gave advice and tips on what needs to be done to get things moving to meet the climate change challenge.
