This is the first in a series of ‘top tips’ notes published by CIPFA and the LGA to share good practice in financial management, prepared by the local government sector, for the sector. It will be useful to councils in putting together the efficiency plan that must be submitted to take up the government's offer of a four-year funding settlement.
These top tips were put together as a result of a workshop held at CIPFA’s offices, Mansell Street, London on 8 June 2016 attended by 30 local government delegates. This is not guidance, but a synopsis of opinion from those present which we hope will be useful to councils in deciding what to submit.
