The Association of Chief Police Officers in Scotland (ACPOS) is the professional voice of police leadership in Scotland. It works in partnership with central and local government to set strategic objectives for policing in Scotland and to deliver better integrated services for Scotland's communities.
Association of Police Authorities (APA)
The Association of Police Authorities (APA) is the national voice of all police authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The APA works with the Home Office and the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) to set policing policy and improve policing on behalf of communities.

HMIC independently assesses police forces and policing activity ranging from neighbourhood teams through serious crime to the fight against terrorism – in the public interest. HMIC provides authoritative information to allow the public to compare the performance of their force against others, using the evidence to drive improvements in the service to the public.
Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary for Scotland (HMICS)
HMICS is responsible for inspecting the eight Scottish police forces and five police services. HMICS operates independently of police forces, police authorities and the Scottish Government and exists to monitor and improve police services in Scotland. HMICS does this by inspecting and advising police forces and the services provided by the Scottish Police Services Authority (SPSA). It also carries out thematic inspections and provides advice to Scottish Ministers.

HM Treasury
The Treasury is the United Kingdom's economics and finance ministry. It is responsible for formulating and implementing the Government's financial and economic policy.
Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC)
The IPCC's job is to make sure that complaints against the police are dealt with effectively. It sets standards for the way the police handle complaints and, when something has gone wrong, it helps the police learn lessons and improve the way it works.
Local Government Association
Local Government Association (LGA) lobbies and campaign for changes in policy, legislation and funding on behalf of its member councils and the people and communities they serve. The LGA is a voluntary membership body for England and Wales. The 22 Welsh unitary authorities are in corporate membership through the Welsh Local Government Association (WLGA) which retains full autonomy in dealing with Welsh affairs.
