Counting the Cost of COVID-19

The CIPFA Police and Fire Network held a practical webinar to examine the cost of coronavirus so far to the police and fire sectors. We considered the reimbursement grants given by government, the administration of the funding streams involved and implications for PCCs, police forces and fire and rescue authorities.

  • Samuel Ansdell, Police and Fire Funding and CJS Strategy Unit, Public Safety Group, Home Office gave an extremely informative and engaging presentation on the national picture of COVID-19 related costs for the police and fire sectors as a whole and reimbursement grants from the Home Office
  • Gary Ridley, CFO for the Durham PCC and Durham Constabulary, provided an excellent and engaging presentation from a PACCTs and NPCC perspective. He considered the COVID-19 related costs and their implications for local PCCs and forces, the administration of pandemic-related funding streams and ongoing implications and requirements for local PCCs and forces
  • Alison Dewhirst, Police Advisor for CIPFA, looked at the COVID-19 related costs and their implications for local authorities and fire and rescue authorties
