how to prevent detect and investigate procurement fraud

23-10-2013

The CIPFA Procurement & Commissioning Network held a special one-day workshop to help the practitioners tackle procurement fraud, which is conservatively estimated at £2.3 billion annually in the public sector, and is on the rise. Research suggests that during a period of economic downturn, the amount of fraudulent activity increases and the procurement function is one area in which fraud can occur.

These workshops gave support to help attendees to:

  • identify different areas of the procurement cycle that may be exposed to the risk of collusion or manipulation
  • understand ‘red flags’ and symptoms of procurement fraud
  • identify and detect procurement fraud and more importantly how to respond once it is identified.

Webchat is available Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 17:00 (excluding UK bank holidays).
