Student roundtable: a chance to gain expenses-paid access to PF Live 2022

CIPFA is looking for between eight and ten UK-based professional qualification and AAT students to take part in a roundtable session on levelling up

Are you passionate about tackling inequality?

Inspired by our recent investing in regional equality report, the one-hour session will be chaired by Jeff Matsu, the report's author and CIPFA's Chief Economist. As a panellist, you'll have the chance to share your views and ideas on levelling up, reflecting on how the agenda is impacting your local area, and beyond. This roundtable will take place at the student conference on 13 July in Liverpool.

Similar to last year's student roundtable on sustainability, the session will be covered by PQ Magazine and will feature across CIPFA's news channels.

It will be a great opportunity to:

  • debate and discuss this important topic
  • hone your public speaking skills in a supportive, friendly environment
  • raise your personal profile
  • attend the foremost event for public finance professionals in the UK

Covering your costs

Given the session topic and our commitment to diversity and inclusion, we want to hear from students from across the UK, and we don't want the travel costs to be a barrier. We will cover all transport, accommodation and PF Live ticket costs for the selected panellists, including:

  • economy travel to and from Liverpool
  • accommodation at the Premier Inn Albert Dock, where CIPFA staff will be staying
  • your PF Live ticket, if you choose to attend the full conference

Students can attend the student conference for free, but the full conference costs £95+VAT.

How to apply

To apply to be a panellist, please send an email of no more than 500 words setting out why you'd like to be considered, where you're based, plus any questions, to Victoria Strachan: victoria.strachan@cipfa.org. The application deadline is 5pm, Friday 1 July.

All applicants will be contacted on Monday 4 July. Selected panellists will be given a discussion guide, setting out the questions that will be covered in the session. An introductory call with Jeff will also be arranged in advance to give panellists the chance to meet each other.

We look forward to hearing from you!
