Scottish local authorities chief internal auditors group

The Scottish Local Authorities Chief Internal Auditors Group (SLACIAG) is the voice of internal audit across Scottish local authorities and a driving force for best practice in respect of local authority internal audit, governance and operations.

Values

Members of the group:

  • respect each other
  • are open and honest
  • add value in everything we do
  • work as one professional team
  • seek out and share best practise
  • have professional and personal integrity
  • see continuous improvement as the norm.

Objectives

The group's objectives are to:

  • proactively raise the profile of the group with key stakeholders in order to be recognised as the logical, respected and essential source of opinion in relation to governance, risk and internal control within Scottish local government
  • identify, on a rolling basis, those areas of internal audit work where a pan-Scotland and/or inter-authority approach to our activity will bring benefits to our people, our clients, and our stakeholders
  • consider the development and training needs of our people as a collective to ensure that the best available products are procured at the best price
  • seek statutory recognition for the role of internal audit in Scotland by lobbying key stakeholders and politicians.
