Additional funding for high needs

Additional £25m high needs funding for 2018/2019 and 2019/2020

The government has announced an additional £25m of funding for high needs, across the two financial years 2018/2019 and 2019/2020.

It has increased the high needs block of the dedicated schools grant (DSG) by:

  • £125m for 2018/2019
  • £125m for 2019/2020

The government has allocated the additional funding on the basis of ONS projections for the 2 to 18 year old population in each local authority.

The published high needs allocations tables have been updated to include this additional funding.
