The
Local Public Services Data Handling Guidelines explain the key standards and their relevance for public services, taking into account GDPR requirements and also cyber threats. This guidance also aims to serve as a checklist, highlighting best practice and referencing useful resources in the handling and protection of data.
To maintain public confidence in the handling of personal data it is essential that local authorities and other bodies have the right culture in place, supported by the right polices and procedures. These aspects are all covered in the guidance.
The guidance, which has been produced by the National Local Authority Warning Advice and Reporting Point (NLAWARP), will be of benefit to information management and IT professionals and also to internal auditors and risk managers reviewing these areas.
