As part of an energy bill rebate package, the government funded councils to provide a £150 council tax rebate for households in England valued in council tax bands A–D. This is referred to as the council tax rebate.
The government has also provided councils with £144m to provide discretionary support to any household in financial need, regardless of their council tax band. This is referred to in the tables as the discretionary fund. The council tax rebate and discretionary fund together form the council tax rebate scheme 2022/23.
Further information about, and research and analysis on, the council tax rebate is now available from DLUHC: Council tax rebate monitoring data.
