The DCLG has published its independent review of local council tax support schemes.
The review, led by Conservative former council leader and MP Eric Ollerenshaw, follows the requirement introduced by the Local Government Finance Act 2012 for government to arrange an independent review within three years of the introduction of the new system.
It looks at whether the schemes are efficient, effective, fair and transparent, considering their impact on the localism agenda and making recommendations as to whether or not the schemes should be brought within universal credit.
