On 26 June 2019 the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) published its latest statistics showing the collection rates for council tax and non-domestic rates in England, for 2018 to 2019.
By the end of March 2019 local authorities had collected £29.3bn in council tax for 2018/19. In doing so the authorities achieved a national average in-year collection rate for council tax of 97.0% in 2018/19, a decrease of 0.1% points over 2017/18. The collection rate in most types of authority decreased slightly from 2017/18 to 2018/19, the only exception being inner London authorities which increased by 0.1% points.
